My family is a bunch of goofs. What else is there to say?!
I know that there really isn’t anyone out there that reads this, so I haven’t been updating this, but I thought I’d work on putting a little more “stuff” up here.
So, stay tuned for more posts.
So I bought some web developement tools the other day from CoffeeCup. I was using their trial versions to build HardingIndustrial and decided that I need to support them. It’s been fun. I am by no means a designer, but when something comes together, it’s really fun.
Anyway, the tools have been easy and pretty darn powerfull too! I’m wanting to do more, but need to pace myself. Want to get better at the basics, before I start getting all flashy
If there is anything simple that people are wanting to do…. let me know.
Also, anyone know of a really inexpensive but decent web hosting site? I’ve used GoDaddy.com in the past, but it’s too difficult to manage.
It’s been COLD!
I’ve never been in such cold weather. It’s been so cold that when it gets above 32 degrees, I think about just going out in a long sleeve shirt!
I saw the thermometer go all the way down to 2.5 degrees!
Anyway, that’s enough about the weather, so sayeth my wife….
none I’ve ever been in.
So I’m going to go ahead and state that… I don’t think we have any idea how this winter is going be so different than the winter’s in the valley. Now, I love snow, and am almost excited for the first snowfall, but I’m not sure I really know what it’s going to be like.
No way to prepare yourself except to just anticipate and be ready with lots of layers…..
Update on my last post.
The installation of the opensource wireless access software was successful.
So, to go back a little bit, I learned about some powerful software to reload a linksys WRT54G wireless router with. And although it’s called a “hack”, it’s just taking opensource linux software and getting more function out of the hardware.
So, although the instructions seemed a little sparse, it’s actually cause the changing of the firmware really doesn’t take that much work.
The new and improved linksys router needs to be put through it’s paces. I hope to get familiar with the new interface and test it this weekend, possibly this week. Once I know what I’m doing, I’ll probably add some more info here about it.
Catch you on the flip side.
I’m going to work on “hacking” my linksys wireless router to take a new operating system that will give it better stability, more options, and better range. This website is currently hosted on a computer behind the router I’ll be working on, so, let’s hope this works…
I’m getting my information from the following post…
So, do you remember where/what you were doing when you heard the news there was an attack on the World Trade Centers?
Most of those that know us, know we come to Central Oregon (CO) at least twice a year and stay either in Sunriver, or Bend. Most of the time it’s Sunriver. Jodi and I have always looked for jobs on the coast, and here in Bend. I actually couldn’t find anything in Bend, so I also added Boise, ID to the list (glad that didn’t work out). So when the paper had a job for a network engineer, and nothing really more so say, I didn’t think much about sending in my resume.
Now, going back a while, I’ve looked and applied for jobs going for about two years, but they almost always fell way short on pay scale, or weren’t the right fit. So along comes this opportunity for a position with a new company. After the interviews, negotiations and the final discussion with my wife, we decided to take the opportunity and leave a great, but repetitive job for the great CO.
So far it’s been great! I’m trying no to perpetuate the geekiness that I am by saying awesome, but it was. I’ve been up to The Gorge, around Redmond, Prineville and all over Bend. I’ve even “had” to spend a week in Boston for training. It’s been real rough! :)
So what’s to come? Who knows. All of the family has finally arrived. We’re just getting around to exploring everything, settling on a church and falling into our new routines. It’s definitely slowed down from our previous life in Eugene, but at the same time, new things are coming… Thanks for checking out my webpage, and I’ll try and be good about keeping it up-to-date.
